IMO the story hurt the whitehouse more than fox news. oriely got to get on, make a quick apology, then claim that sherrod was unfit for office under teh hatch act. Gibbs on the other hand had to own that the administration fucked up and wasn't paying attention to it's inner workings.

@tedm82 Um, the electoral college was most recently won over by bush in 2000 when he lost the popular vote but still got office. Obama won by a landslide, even capturing Ohio and Florida. Obama will most likely get reelected since poll numbers are pretty inaccurate and the national elections are very liquid.
