Bottom line for me: Bruce=genius. If he worshiped a rock and wrote/played like this, I'd still buy his stuff and play it on severe repeat. It's quite happy happenstance that he believes in god to boot...

@lyleasmith It's unfortunate that the right wing Christians seem to define Christianity not only for themselves but for those who stay away from Christianity because they want nothing to do with right wing intolerance. I'm not Christian, but what I know of it is quite lefty and good. It's too bad that so few know that kind of Christianity.

@lyleasmith Sorry but I will have to put you straight on that one. I used to run a programme and played a lot of Cockburn. Also I have seen Cockburn at christian festivals. As for christians being right wing I do not know about the ones you have met but all the ones I know would think rightwing christian to be an oxymoron. Politically I align myself more to anarchy "call no man master"

@lyleasmith I'm not a Christian but I'm a huge fan of Cockburn's lyrics. I'm a huge fan of the Metaphysical poets too, and the sacred songs of traditional American music and bluegrass. I'm also a huge fan of your comment, one of the most sensible postings I've seen from a Christian for quite some time. Kudos!

@FlashMetalCircus to me it was a bit weird MV episode, but fantastic choice for a song to put in a show, as usual. Mr Mann's the greatest ever,

This is the real deal! Vive la 80's and Bruce Cockburn and screw modern autotuneshit and rap! Loved this one in Miami Vice!

This song is not from "World of Wonders" but from the album before it, "Stealing Fire".

One of my criticisms of Christianity is that Christian radio stations don't play any Bruce Cockburn. "Maybe the poet is gay/but he'll be heard anyway" will never grace the airwaves of Christian radio, which preaches a right-wing brand of Christianity. Cockburn's songs are too lefty for them, which strangely enough seems to be more in line with what Jesus taught and did (If you believe in Jesus).
