@Zlyzer honestly theres no way to get zero orange peel.. its just how it is. BUT u can definately minimize it.. either higher air pressure or a little extra reducer to let the clear flow out. room temperature and surface temp also play a huge role in how materials lay out.if you are repairing a newer car u actually want a little bit of orange peel because EVERY factory car has orange peel.

@Zlyzer Turn your air pressure way up when spraying clear, its harder to lay the clear down with a HVLP what you want is Divilbiss Plus, I have a GTI when i spray Clear i turn it up to 45psi just to get it to atomize.with zero orange peel

I think if you get a Sata or one of the other name brand guns it will lay the paint down and not cause so much orange peel. I had the same problem when I painted my dads truck. I was useing a wallmart brand gun when I should have used an hvlp.

@sanchezyolanda How do you avoid orange peel. I painted the bonnet of my car and found that holding it quite close and moving slightly slower helped.. in fact, it's turned out really well except for a few runs. However, I painted some side skirts and they've got some orange peel in them despite using the same techniques as before.. what could I be doing wrong do you think?

@thethecqp what does your manual say? do some test panels to see, how big is your compressor will it be able to keep up with it? if you find it running alot only mix so much paint and let it fill itself up while your mixing paint, get a water /oil catcher to avoid crap in your hose also, and thank you
