In this video I tell you how much it cost to live in Japan. In this example I am explaining how much it costs for ME to live in Japan. I live a very economical lifestyle with no frills. I am the kind of guy that likes to save for a rainy day and thus I cut a lot of corners to save money here in Japan. In this video I have broken down my living costs between rent, food, internet, electricity, gas, health insurance, cell phone and extras. This should give you a good idea of how much it costs to live in Japan. Prices are in Japanese yen.

  • Awesome! Thanks. I have one question.. I want to go on a vacation in Tokyo for 7-10 days.. and I have been wondering if 100,000 Yen will be enough to make it out.. Since I'm a foreigner I heard it will be hard for me to rent a room.. How do you think, is it possible to rent a room for 7-10 days and have enough money to spend a nice time?

  • @RedZergMan It's a little tight, but if you're not picky about the room you should try to find a place under 4000 yen/night. Another avenue you might want to explore is to consider staying in a love hotel. They are actually pretty nice hotels and much cheaper than business hotels and they usually have discounted nightly rates.

  • I would rather live in the US because it seems cheaper. But if I was wealthy I would definitely have a place in japan

  • @1234stro No doubt about it, you get much more value for your money in the U.S.

  • @balidancer How is that? I really don't think so! It can be even cheaper dude.

  • @RedZergMan Try a Hostel. The going rate when I was there was about 3,000 yen a night. It's a dorm style and it was pretty nice. It was smack dab in the middle of Ikebukuro, a 3 minute walk to the JR station. Sakura Hotel. If you don't mind sharing a room with your friends and not really have a living space but to sleep, you should check it out.

  • in Amsterdam is 3 times that... *cries*

  • haha. I had to pause the video; in lieu of being able to turn off the stove and faucet.

  • @japanascope can you describe like how many square feet your place is, the cost of different types of meals(fast food vs buying groceries vs cheaps restaurants), the type of neighborhood, proximity to city? I grew up in a small apartment, not eating very much and living frugal.. so maybe Japan won't be as much of a shock. How hard is it to find a job over there? any suggestions please?

  • @ lotr4000 tokyocooney covered this same thing, but in Tokyo. He has not posted in quite some time but has alot of really good videos.

    @ japanscope great video!

  • Interesting ...
