As part of his Opus One, we wonder if at this early stage we are hearing the inner Beethoven or echoes of the musical influences around him at the time he composed the work. In any case, the genius abounds and results in one of his most pleasing works. Pablo Casals recorded a performance of this in 1958 in Beethoven home in Bonn. Try to find the LP or CD re-release if they still exist.

I have not heard all the recordings that exist for this piece, neither do I have to. I have found this, and I seek not a better version. Who can demand more than this?
