These CS400 saws really cut with a muff modd, Echo did thier homework on them. I have a coulpe that cut faster tham my 53cc Rancher 55 and just as fast as my Stihl 029 56cc. Not bad for a 40cc saw.

I have a CS-400 too but I do not know how to modify the muffler. Where can I find this information? Sorry for the basic question, I'm new to the chainsaw world. Thanks

This Echo outcut my Husky 242 (42cc) (I muff mod'd the Echo and it cuts 15+% faster then stock). I bought it used for 140 bucks. Sold it for 160.

how many turns on the low and high carb screws from completely turned in? I think you were running quite a bit leaner than i am or maybe im running to rich. fun little saw and doing a muffler mod on those really does make quite a difference.

I don't rembember for sure, but I think the low was about 1 1/2 turns and the high was at the limit of lean didn't grind off the limiter tab on the high. However I live at 3000 feet elevation and thats 10% less oxgen then at sea level so you have to adjust leaner then you would at sea level. 150psi compression at sea level = 135 psi at 3k feet.
