Hayworth Campaign Launches New Ad: McCain on McCain

PHOENIX, AZ. March 3, 2010. A new video shows Senator McCain saying he is confident that voters will judge him not for what he has done for Arizona during his 28 years in Washington, but bizarrely what he might do for them. That might be a good strategy on the part of Arizonas senior senator, as the video shows puzzled voters trying to answer the question, What has Senator McCain done for Arizona?

This video, McCain on McCain, was released March 3rd by the campaign of JD Hayworth, the conservative challenger to the moderate McCain.

In the video, Sen. McCain is heard saying that he is confident that the people of Arizona will judge me on not what Ive done for them, but what they think I can do for them. Most politicians who have spent as many years in the U.S. Senate as McCain would be expected to run on their record not their potential.

Vulnerable to the more conservative Hayworth on taxes, pro-life issues and illegal immigration, McCain has resorted to attacking Hayworth on spending, despite Hayworth having a better lifetime rating from Citizens Against Government Waste. Hayworth has a 98-percent rating from the American Conservative Union.

McCain also voted for the $850 billion bailout of the big banks which included $150 billion in earmarks, proposed a $300 billion bailout for mortgage lenders and, according to the Heritage Foundation, sponsored an amnesty bill that would have cost taxpayers $2.6 trillion over the long-term.

  • McCain has been an absolutely horrible Senator -- it's doubtful now that he can win an election in his home state.

  • I can't think of anything either, looks like JeremyVaught couldn't either, because he would have said so in his comment !

But I can say ONE thing that McCain wants to DO for Arizona , that is destroy us with Amnesty, we won't let him, time to retire John, thank you for yourservice.

  • Can you name one thing the average voter knows about what any politician has actually done about anything?

  • @JeremyVaught

Jeremy, do you know John McCain's voting record? What do you think of Phil Gordon? He fits the mold of Mayors supporting McCain. Isn't McCain voting record the most important qualifier here?

  • All I can say are two words "TERM LIMITS"!!!

  • Yep, JD Hayworth interviewed a lot of Democrats for this ad.

And as we all know, only Democrats (like Hayworth) think the federal government can do a lot to help everyone or to help the state. Individuals are responsible for their own destiny, and the best DC can do is put up more roadblocks.

  • Beat that Flip Flop Rhino McCain and hopefully we can get ride of our Lap Dog. Lindsey Graham.

  • He doesn't listen after he gets elected but then sings sweet nothings to get re-elected. I call that two faced.

  • this ad is pretty anecdotal and not very good.
