1987 (Just another rendition of this classic song by vocal powerhouse, Shirley Bassey!) This clip, Shirley performs in Berlin celebrating the cities' existence for 750 years)

Shirley first recorded and released the song, I Who Have Nothing' as a Columbia Single in 1963.

ABOUT the song:
"I (Who Have Nothing)" is based on the Italian song "Uno dei tanti," (English: "One of Many") with music by Carlo Donida and lyrics by Giulio "Mogol" Rapetti.[1] "Uno dei tanti" was released by Joe Sentieri in 1961. The lyrics for "I (Who Have Nothing)" were translated into English by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller. Shirley Bassey released the song (produced by George Martin) in September 1963, reaching #6 on the UK charts. She performs the song at almost every live concert she gives, and it is on many of her compilation albums, including I Am What I Am with the London Symphony Orchestra, and her 1989 album La Mujer where she sings it in Spanish ("Hoy No Tengo Nada"). She has also been instrumental in making Donida's music known to English speaking audiences through arranging for translations from the Italian, having performed with the composer conducting his own music on Italian television.

LYRICS:
I, I who have nothing
I, I who have no one
Adore you and want you so
I'm just a no one,
with nothing to give you but oh
I love you
You, you buy her diamonds
Bright, sparkling diamonds
But believe me, dear, when I say
That she can give you the world
(sometimes: That you can give her the world)
But she'll never love you the way
I love you

You can take her any place she wants
To fancy clubs and restaurants
But I can only watch you
with My nose pressed up against the window paneI,

I who have nothing
I, I who have no one
Must watch you, go dancing by
Wrapped in the arms of somebody else
When darling it is I
Who love you

I Love You....
I Love You...
I Love You........

  • OMFG!! Do you have 'Diamonds Are Forever' from this special in this GREAT QUALITY!?

  • @CelineReneRC - Yes, I have uploaded this entire concert in HQ. In fact, I have been taking some time and re-uploading all of Shirley's Vids with HQ, and deleting many of the less quality vids uploaded years ago. Some of the counts are not very high because many are recent Re-Uploads. I don't know if Shirley reviews Youtube often, but I'm sure she would appreciate the great comments and the 'Likes' - Regards, Scot

  • She did not take it back - Tom Jones conjures up far more passion and still owns this song.

  • @Alfaguy - Shirley Bassey and Tom Jones have been great friends for 4 decades, and she was just having some fun with her statement. Shirley doesn't have to take back anything because she is the person who had the hit with the song back in 1964. To this day, Shirley has sung this song, live, more than any other artist. I'm also a great fan of Tom Jones, and I think his version is also great! I guess it's just me, but I enjoy different people singing classic songs.

  • @Txboy85A - Shirley Bassey is a sexy woman, no matter what her age. And, at 74 yo, she still is! Her magnatism is something else, and it's one of the many factors, over and above her huge VOICE which has kept her so popular for almost 60 years in show business. And because of Shirley's sexy performance style, she is one of the few artists of her genre of music who has a huge male fan base.

  • Can you image that some one thinks that Nicky Hayley from the American Idol, sings this better than SB or TJ. Kids today don't know what GREAT singers are.

  • @Rosannasfriend Right on!

  • A real diva! Even now at age 75 she's still at the top of her game. Too bad the same can't be said about the likes of Whitney Housten whose life was destroyed by booze, drugs & an unhealthy lifestyle.

  • WHAT THE FUCK??????SHE IS AAAAMAZING!!!!!!

  • One never has enough of this woman ! What a voice !!!!!! What interpretations !!!!! No wonder she has been ordained to Dame Shirley Bassey ! Is that enough ?

  • BRAVO SHRLEY kiss from Portugal .

  • @sas9023055 LOL. Thanks for the info. If this person liked that sub-par rendition of I Who Have Nothing, then I cannot blame him for not liking Shirley's superior one!

  • When I read such rediculous comments from people, which are ignorant as you say, I usually go to their home page. It's amazing what you find. This guy is a huge fan of Haley Reinhart, and he's mad that she lost the Idol competition. As a small person he thus feels that he must put down another artist, who not only had a huge hit with this song, but has been in show business almost 60 years. Shirley's technique/arangement with this song has nothing to do with vocal ability.

  • @brendatheavenger LOL. So funny. Ignorant people usually are. If you've watched ANY Shirley videos before this, you'd know her voice is anything BUT weak, or unable to sustain notes. LMAO.

  • she is overly dramatic and she chops every word because her voice is weak and she can't hit and sustain the notes. She's a robot.
