Charter Cable Compoany "Mustache" funky grunts by Freedom Bremner

I really like the cuteness of this commercial Charter Cable. The whole father son thing gets me every time. Originally there was a whole song going on, but ultimately they chose to go with some of my ad-libs, funky screams and grunts. While recording it in the booth in New York, I was able to watch the actors' work on a video monitor.The funny thing is after I was done recording it. I called my manager to say "that producer hates me , and I'm not too sure I like him either!" The producer kept throwing me different directions. "It's like a James Brown kind of thing but really cheesey "cause James is so over the top" ( I take the Godfather of Soul very seriously, I take Eddy Murphy's parody seriously too, but I'm just sayin' let's be clear...) Then: "It's like Barry White, you know, but kind of high energy" ( Barry White sings low, this was high, huh?) " You've really got to sell it at the top or they [the ad agency] won't take you seriously, but be light with it, like you're taking out the piss out of it".... and on and on. I just knew I didn't get this job.

The next day my manager calls to tell me that the producer loved my work , I was the only singer who got the concept. was able to roll with all the direction, and that he really enjoyed working with me and was pretty sure the commercial was going to go final for on air use. You never know.......
