Beijing (Chinese: 北京) is a city in northern China and the capital of the People's Republic of China. It is one of the four municipalities of the PRC, which are equivalent to provinces in China's administrative structure. Beijing is one of the Four Great Ancient Capitals of China, and has also been known in English as Peking. The municipality of Beijing borders Hebei Province to the north, west, south, and for a small section in the east, and Tianjin Municipality to the southeast.
Beijing will host the 2008 Summer Olympics and the 2008 Summer Paralympics. City officials removed and relocated 350,000 people for the construction of the Beijing National Stadium, which was completed on June 28, 2008. (Licensed under the GNU Free Documentation License.
