I like Stefan's singing. I read in a book once that he played in a rock band in San Francisco in the late 1960s. Maybe he dated Rory Block too. Is this true? I think the book was titled SUMMER OF LOVE.
I used to try to learn from Stefan's OAK books, back before I had money to buy many records-- CDs and Videos hadn't been invented yet. It was slow going!
Even so, many John Hurt riffs are imprinted in my mind--if not on all my playing skills yet!
Getting the thumb/bass rhythm steady takes time.

@FG365SE I just bought his double dvd on fingerpicking and had it sent from the US to here in Australia. Look forward to getting into the songs.

As a devotee of Grossman for decades, I agree with the contributor who recommends leaning to sing the song first. That's the easy part. You have to concentrate on the instrumental part the most.
Can't overstate Grossman's importance to the fingerstyle guitar culture. This guy preserved that Mississippi John/Gary Davis tradition, and passed it on.

Without getting too gushy, I have to say Stephan is a bit of a hero of mine (although perhaps he is not the best singer in the World - No offence Stephen) The reason I think so much of him is because his double DVD entitled "Beginning Fingerstyle Guitar (or something similar) kick started my passion for playing fingerstyle guitar. Playing is such an important part of my life now... I would love to shake his hand.
