Hush, the show is about to start.

Hi, my name is Avril Southon, I'm the managing director of Women @

Work Painters. We paint residential and commercoal premises inside

and outside. Women @ Work started when a lot of mums complained

about economic assistance service in tradesmen. So its been set up

so that it puts services provided in painting.

We only bring on experienced staff who we know who can get along

with people and know how to respect people and their homes as well

as can do a good painting job. I also employed a couple of men and

my main supervisor, Jay is a man.

I look after the girls and their job sites. Get all the heavy

equipment on the site and make sure that jobs go smoothly. I've

been working with Avril for over the years. I feel a lot more

comfortable talking to females as I can talk to them on their level

and they can do the job that any man could do, probably better.

Well, we do what we say we're going to do. We come out, we do the

quote, we discuss it in detail, we right up a recent quote so you

know waht you're getting and everything's in lighting so we all

have the same expectation. My staff can have a copy of that.

We come in, we clean, we're tidy, we use the common sense approach,

we stay for the job, we're not pigs, we're not trying to intimidate

the owners of the house.

Okay, this is Broen, she's preparing these columns for the painting

in readiness for painting. So she's just sanding at the moment.

Sarah's just feeling now holes in preparation before we actually do

some priming. Petra's undercoating some woodwork inside as you can

see.

Women @ Work Painters is very different for me. It's my business.

It's really exciting to go a paint job to clean a house that is new

or existing where it needs a lot of work. We could transform it

from the ugly duckling to the swan and the staff enjoy that too.
