The Somers Congregational was gathered on March 15, 1727. The congregation's third meeting house was built in 1840 and was destroyed by fire on January 1, 2012. Our nations 8th president (Martin Van Buren) was in office when the church was built. This is Somers Connecticut in 1927. Ultra rare footage.

As for the church, it would be great if someone got in touch with the architect who re-built the Watch Hill Ocean House in Rhode Island to its new glory. They would be the people to talk to.
