While sailing in extreme low tide on 01/09/2011 in Sarasota Bay Florida, I struck a sandbar doing about 25 MPH while on the foils. The rig came down around me and parts of the boat clocked me across the shoulder and chest. I managed to snap clean the port main beam and the port bow wire.

Lucky for me there were many people watching and two power boaters came to help and make sure I was all right. The whole event from striking the bar, to a complete stop, took two to three seconds. I was not injured but, the boat sustained to my estimate about $250.00 worth of damage. All the parts that are designed to fail in a situation like this did, which saved all the expensive components. It could have been a lot worse for me and, the boat.

I should be back up and sailing again within two weeks.

Photos of the damaged parts can be seen at link...
