A neat trick to see if a scuba tank is full or not, without having to use any gauges. Check the pressure by listening.

  • Cool trick Brochacho. I will have to try it next time i rent tanks. Assume I could get the same result just banging on it?

  • Turns out... not really. You need to lift them off the ground to get them to ring right. I've tried just banging them with a rubber mallet, and it's really not as good.

  • lol very good but can i ask. if you check your tank like that isntthere a chance that you can within time damage your tank?

  • No... It's not like we're dropping it off a building - A little bounce on the floor is way less trauma than a tank will go through in it's normal day of use.

  • I like Scuba.com, but that was a waste of 3:57

  • My dad has a ten pound sledge he hits his bottle with. He says thats the best way to tell if it has air without a guage.

  • the song at the end is so funny!

  • some dive shops wont fill up your tank if it below 30, because they think you are stupid and unsafe

  • @unumnut -- liquid? compressed gases have weight.

    Compressed air has 4-6 pounds.

  • this is common sense. you still need a gauge though. I guess you could memorize the tune when full and empty and judge based on that. I would rather trust the gauge though.

  • funny guys!
