@timbohoagie I'm not saying anything new is not good but I believe, and correct me if I'm wrong, in another video you commented about how the types of snares they use suck because they're side mounted. It's a military style band, that's what they do. It also tries to go with the old snare sound not like the modern everyday highschool crank the drum till you break it.
@TheOsuMB Trust me, it's not together. I'm not dissing the tradition, I'm dissing the fans who says it's all about tradition, and that anything new is not good. I like TBDBITL, and work with a Director who graduated from OSU. All my previous post was saying is that Kevlar heads were created for a reason. Plus, I hear the new Percussion Instructor at OSU is working his way towards the modern era.
@TheOsuMB No. I just know what I (and the majority of the percussion world) like to hear. If you don't like it, give me a valid reason why it's a good thing (besides your self-coined nickname)
@timbohoagie do you live to troll? i've seen you on like 5 videos saying how the snares sound messy, it's not called the best damn band in the land for no reason?
the old snares sound too messy when you get far away (aka marching band). thats why the kevlar heads allow for such tension, so it sounds like a real snare from the stands. the old style sounds like a box of rocks in the stands.
You know, I am a die-hard corps style marching guy..(I haved been involved with DCI World Class for 20 years now..), But I must say that the OSUMB is really cool to watch. DCI corps are about innovation and pushing the envelope, whist this band is about tradition and entertaining ithe OSU faithful.
What they do is still very physically demanding and is very precise. I tip my hat to them on their old school excellence.
Tennessee Volunteer here... the Script Ohio is incredible!

@timbohoagie it's all about tradition, if you listen to the band live it's completely together and i didnt "coin the nickname" overtime it was given.

It's a beret, they wear them in place of the military style hats while playing in the stands during the game.
