waste-pickers shelter
designed by alexander niño ruiz
From: Slovenia
Shelter location: Bogota´s bike paths network, sidewalks, streets and public parks
18,000 families of recyclers collect almost one tenth of the daily waste produced in Bogotá, paradoxically many of them are sheltered by the very waste they collect. Four barril-shaped boxes in corrugated metal solves the equation of serving as a waste container and a easy-to-pull diclycle for them to work and move. Boxes expand rendering a shelter coated in refletive paint to become a visible part of the urban scape.
Super awesome ;) love it

interesting idea, but I'm not sure if it could be realized.. and that's not really a place for students to study, or relax... which was the idea of the contest. but a big plus for noble idea and effort!

how does it roll? (what mechanism used) when pulled /by a bicycle? the idea of telescopic barrel is nice. does it expand while loading recycled wastes? if so, rolling it would be a problem when extruded because of its shape.
