@pdsn65 I agree with you, i feel the same way, i also gre up in Bargoed in the 1970's, in a large property in cardiff road called ' GLADSTONE VILLA' and as for you saying so many memories well i remember having some spooky experiences in there, and what i say is true, i later found out the history of the area and i'm not surprised that the villa, and the rafa were haunted! you may have heard of the rumours, its quite well known, though you may not believe or be interested !

I enjoyed listening to your singing of this.
I love this old song that I heard when I was little. I wish I knew what the words meant in English, I have so little Welsh but I am so proud of my Welsh background. I will keep it.

Hyfryd yw gan ond amherffaith fy cyfieithiad a perfformiad. Hwyl fawr a'r hen iaith am byth! Delightful is the song but imperfect my translation and performance. All the best and the old language for ever!

Nid yw'r geiriau Saesneg yn toddi i mewn i'r alaw.
The English words dont melt in with the melody

I gratefully acknowledge the excellent photos of the Cenotaph, Miners' Memorial and the Park taken by Nick Owen.
Hi I'm Nick Owen who took the pictures of the cenotaph, park etc. Thanks for including them in here. five generations of my family lived in Bargoed and went to the chapel pictured (Hanbury Road Baptist). It closed in January 2010 and is to be converted into a library . One of my old schools is also gone. I live in Caerphilly now but go back weekly to see my parents, it's sad to see how the town has declined, as when i was growing up in the 1970's it was a thriving place. So many memories!

@pdsn65 Thanks again Nick for your fine photos and it's good to hear from the old home. Yes, it's sad to see the demise of schools and chapels. A library would be a partial consolation. My grandad's siblings and father moved to Bargoed from Clynnog circa 1905. He was a life member of the RFC. There was wonderful singing from Capel Calfaria in the fifties. Hwyl fawr - Dafydd.
