This is seriously cool. I am watching the eagles feed the chicks just now. The parent was tearing up the remains of a black bird it caught this morning and feeding it to the chicks again this afternoon. And here I am watching it with fascination like a movie munching on beef jerky of all things. :)

Their nest looks free of debris. Do they eat all the bones?

@MyKlaas1 lol doubtful... birds are picky fellers. My bird re-arranges her cage after I clean it. I don't know eagles well but I would guess they simply toss them overboard.

@O1dGreg they do eat bones and rarely "toss" things overboard..

@greencashew Was simply a guess, I am very sorry to see a 44 year old get upset so easy.

@O1dGreg ya know what they say about assuming.. I am not upset.. just want people to get correct information not assumptions and guesses.. thank you...

@MyKlaas1 Yes, eagles of all ages eat (and require) bones for calcium. Eaglets and eagles of all ages egest (cast) pellets, and when they are doing so they can appear to be vomiting or choking. The pellets are prey parts that could not be digested (bits of feathers, fur, fish scales, etc.); such items are squeezed into a pellet in the bird’s gizzard and then expelled.
Any bones they don't eat usualy become part of the nest..
