In a cover story of The Nation magazine, Harvard law professor Lawrence Lessig writes, At the center of our government lies a bankrupt institution: Congress. Not financially bankrupt, at least not yet, but politically bankrupt. He goes on to argue that, Congress is the core of the problem with American democracy today. In a single line: There will be no change until we change Congress.

We should all get behind reintroduction of that Fair Elections Now Act. If we get active and get our fellow citizens to pressure our congressmen collectively, it can be passed. I'm sure we already have a consensus. With our social networking tools and internet petition sites, it is easier than ever.

Yes we are a Republic, but the government pretends it is a democracy to control an apathetic and ill-informed populace.

A republic not a democracy, two completely different ways of governing. A republic is more democratic than the concept of democracy itself. Democracy now should be called the Republic Now. lol. But all of the left does not want a republic, they want to remove the right of individuals and let the majority become Tyranical toward the minority, tha'ts what democracy produces.
