they use masks, when is toxic or other dangerous... plastic, glue, ect. not in regular home-fire.

i am a firefighter and actually any time there is smoke, extreme heat, or anything else in the air that could harm you, we wear our SCBA's or breathing apparatus. they are should be used at every fire.
