he usually works in teams of at least six, and they're all very skilled so it doesn't take quite as long as you may think

i sat and stared at this piece for about forty five minutes last time i was there. Interesting to see it in its "backstage" form. Go Karen Lamonte!

chihuly hasn't blown glass for 30 years. It was his legion of employees that did the fern green tower.

Fern Green Tower was created by Dale Chihuly as a gift for The Corning Museum of Glass in 2000. It weighs 1,400 pounds and is made up of 500 individually blown glass elements attached to a steel structure. Unfortunately, we do not have a video of its creation.
