I grew up in Detroit and it's suburbs. This song is deeply personal to me. Because of the economy we had to move to another state in '08. Never, ever, dreamed I'd live anywhere else. Listening to Kid makes me homesick. I love his music! Some great musicians come out of Michigan

If kid rock could sing he would have not used auto tune on "only god knows why" with good vocal coaching and a raspy addition to your tone everybody can sound like this with a lot of practice. . I am not dissing him. . . it´s a compliment

I love this song! Kid Rock puts his heart and soul into his music in every song. This one reminds me of where I came from and what its like to care about the place. It gives me a sense of America and how lucky we are. It describes what Americans do when there is a catastrophic event, or just smaller ones thats unknown to some. We make it through, ands come out on top, we are raised that way ,were America, We are Born free. and we die free. Kid Rock sings it the best.

Whew! That sure was one hell-of-a-song! My home state's NY. I just heard this song for the first time. Not knowing it was for Detroit... My thoughts not only went back to NY but most Esp., to NYC on 9/11/01. I was right across the harbor "Hudson River" @ Liberty State Park, in Jersey City, NJ when the Towers went down. Too bad that song wasn't written and played on the radio around the time of 9/11. "Times Like These" would've given Americans the ULTIMATE of American PRIDE which will never die.
