Ace Prawn Bait pellets and Prawn Oil. Sometimes we use cheap Tuna/fish based canned cat food. Sometimes I'll throw in a Salmon head or other fish bits.

Yes, that's the way we do it. The same way that the commercial Prawners fish, only on a smaller scale. Same traps, same bait, same areas. We just run one or two traps per float where the commercials guys will run 50 traps between two floats on a long line.

For Tahsis locals, we usually do our Prawning all year round. It is a great winter fishery when there is not much else happening and we don't want to venture to the outside.
We do like to target them hard in March and April, as the commercial Prawners start usually on the 1st of May. The Prawns are big and there are lots of them!
