Intellectual properties laws are lies that produced by US, Chinese wont believe in it. If US successfully make their government oppress them, they will spread the methods and technologies around the world by building battery parts for individual builders to assemble them. Investments for small modules are much cheaper. They will do it and they are business men for freedom.

Someone needs to investigate the axis of evil GM-Texaco-Chevron and the politicians who protect them. before it gets any worse. USA may become 2nd class nation very quickly!

; the arab islamic muslims have gotten most of the money OPEC, and now will control the world. They call it "biz" we call them "Benedict Arnolds" !

GoTo PeaceNikInternational. Come to read the True story of how GM- Texaco-Chevron (T BOONE PICKENS) sold us out on the NIMH large format" battery, price fixed gas so high that they have bankrupted the western nations.

So here we are 2011, where would battery technology be today if they weren't forced to abandon it?
-
@liveoilfree 3 year later, we will have a chevy volt that will go 40mile on battery alone, than a hybird gas generator for the extra mile. ^^ i know the future.

"solarizing america" epic.

@liveoilfree So now after their another IPO and soon to be launched VOLT, what do you think?

the problem is, who is going to buy this 20 sec battery and then sit on it? Google the "Stanford Lithium battery" They formulated a Lithium battery with 10 times the energy of existing Lithium batteries. This would, for example, give the Tesla a 2,500 mile range vs its present 250 mile range. It turn out Saudi Arabia now funds this research. Do you think this battery will be in EVs anytime soon competing with oil?

Thanks for this concise and well thought out presentation on the state of "NiMH batteries". Sadly the question is how many politicians know about this? Not unlike seat belts we are going to have to force these corporations to do the right thing. Thank you Mr. Korthof for your time and effort in getting this story out.

Google "MIT 20 sec battery)
i guess chevron isnt afraid that lithium might work... otherwise they could license the patent they hold (nickle batteries) for plug in electric cars
if they decided on that... they could garuntee that lithium wouldnt be necessary... and that electric cars would use THEIR batteries
it would be a good way to "steal back" money they'd be losing by previous gas buyers who decided to choose electric instead

GM has apparently decided that there's nothing about the EV business that interests them. GM can't even make a working model, after a year of claiming they were going to do it, of the so-called "VOLT".
Yes, if GM cared about making an EV, they might look into the batteries, but they don't have a battery research lab, only a battery testing lab -- indicating to me that they have no interest in the EV business.
