On 12th August 2011, Sri Lankan Youth set the GUINNESS WORLD RECORD for the Largest Human Mosaic in the World in celebration of the International Youth Day.
The Five British Council (Sri Lanka) Global Changemakers created a Guinness World Record where 1,500 Sri Lankans stood together united to form the word "YOUTH" at the Colombo University grounds to coincide with International Youth Day. This has been recorded as the largest Human Mosaic in the world.
This initiative is the brainchild of five British Council Global Changemakers from Sri Lanka who are current Youth Ambassadors/Social Activists and have attended numerous Youth Summits and High Level Meetings such as the World Economic Forum, Davos and Number 10, Downing Street. The Five Global Changemakers are Sarah Jameel, Lihini Ratwatte, Sulakshana Senanayake, Sikander Sabeer and Mohamed Husni.
This event is endorsed by the British Council (Sri Lanka), Global Changemakers, UN International Year of Youth. The Official Electronic Media Sponsor for the event is MBC Networks (PVT) LTD, the Official Print Media Partner is Wijeya Newspapers, Official Beverage Partner is Nestle Lanka (PVT) LTD, and the Official Cloth Partner We Are Family Foundation (New York) and the Three Dot Dash Initiative (New York).
The following Youth Service Organizations had partnered with us to support this record goal by providing their own youth for the event; National Youth Services Council, Leo Sri Lanka, SLMUN, Rotaract, Interact, AIESEC, IYV+10 and the Sri Lanka Girl Guides Association.
