The great and gracious Sara Bareilles, her band and tour manager helped make my proposal to the love of my life a success! Gemma said yes!
BEN'S CONCERT PROPOSAL (by Gemma)
"For the past three months Ben and I have been anticipating the Sara Bareilles concert (for those who dont know who she is she is probably best known for the song LovesongIm not gonna write you a love song) Ben and I saw her in concert last year at the Paradise Club in Boston, we were three rows back from the stage and it was possibly the best concert I have ever been to. If youve ever been to the Paradise in Boston you know what I meana great venue.
So when we found out in October that she was coming back to the Paradise we jumped at the chance to get tickets againonly this time we got them through the Sara B official website. http://www.sarabmusic.com
Fast forward to this week. All week we have been talking about how we couldnt wait for Friday night. Then on Thursday night Ben came home from work all excited to tell me We were selected out of the fan club to attend the sound check on Friday night. Then on Friday morning Ben called me while I was on my way to work to tell me he talked to the tour manager Aaron and the sound check was going to be just usI thought WOW how cool is that going to be. Plus we would get to meet the entire band and take pictures etc. Little did I know that all the while Ben had been plotting. He had traded several phone calls and emails back and forth with the band as well as messages on Facebook, MySpace and also sent them this video on YouTube:

Also he had already called both of my parents to ask them.
Friday night finally arrived and we drove to Boston traffic was pretty horrendous, we were supposed to be at the sound check between 7:20-7:30pm, but if you know Boston on a Friday night, we couldnt find a parking space (yikes!) finally we pulled into a lot that was full and as I was driving through the lot to leave I saw the tiniest parking spot I have ever seen (thank god for my compact car). Thinking back we were cutting it so close I cant believe how calm Ben was as well. Cool as a cucumber.
So we got to the paradise and met Aaron the tour manager and he showed us inside where the band was practicing for the big show. Sara Bareilles said Hey guys, sound check winners, sorry this is so boring, its not the best prize! (She was in on the whole thing). After her sound check song we were able to go up and talk to her and the bandand this is what followed:

Of course I was completely speechless and couldnt believe Ben pulled the whole thing off, the band is awesome for playing along and letting him propose the way he did. It was a night I will never forget, and it was possibly the best night of my life. Sara even bought us a bottle of champagne which we of course finished before the concert started (in classic Ben & Gem style).
The concert was amazing and the entire night was amazing. I am in complete awe and just wanted to share this with those who care to read it. Thanks to all who have congratulated usmore to come!

i am amazed that you got sara and her crew to cooperate. that's so neat. i actually met her a few months ago and she's extremely easy to talk to...what an amazing moment! congrats!
