Its not changed upside down, you can say it has initiated small steps to big changes. Nations need decades to bring change and media is just reaching out to remote area and creating awareness among the people what actually is happening around them. 'Democracy' back home is very different from how it works here in (lets say) Canada :)

Rest is a long debate and one of the factors to come in power remains US backing.
