http://www.tutorialzip.com - This tutorial is to guide you, the user, in changing your DNS address to (hopefully) a better alternative. OpenDNS, one of said alternatives, will be used as our main example but there are many others out there. Now while OpenDNS is great, it isn't for everyone: The best way to find the best one for you is to consult the link in the tutorial for a list of alternatives and choose the best (testing one yourself first hand here is key).

  • You may want to mention that you can use this setting in your router, so that every computer in your house can use this service. Its better then doing it on each PC.. I like it because it helps keep our kids off sites I don't want them on.. Another bonus to using openDNS. I believe the viewers over sea's can use Googles dns service, they would have to check tho.

  • @zaipai Very good comment. I should of showed people how to do that.

  • @7MeetsNick Why Just London? I don't get why a lot of americans tend to just think of the UK as London. Everyone in every country, England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland is the UK. lol.

  • @sutty6 No idea, thats what it said on the site.

  • Comcast DNS is faster than OpenDNS in my area :\

  • @fatalkill504 lucky we have comcast in my area. I live in chicago and OpenDNS is so good here.

  • @7MeetsNick Yea, I know each router is a bit different, however it could make for a good screencast if you have nothing and want to pump one out..

Great videos.. Keep em coming I enjoy every one of them. While I am an Linux guy (have been since redhat 4) I do use Vista and Win7 at work and gaming..

  • What exactly does this OpenDNS do? Does it make your internet faster?

  • what is dns is it the routers name

  • I've actually ever looked into why having a different Domain Name Server is a good idea, could someone please explain. Thanks :)

All that PCWK said was - 'a better alternative'
