Buddhist monks are not allowed to cook food, so they rely on the daily offerings of people. They have one meal a day, between sunrise and noon, and can only have water the rest ofthe day. So early in the morning (around 6am) the monks leave their monastery for their alms rounds: they walk briskly through the neighborhoods in a single file and collect their food from people (women are usually kneeling sideways barefoot when giving the offerings) They cannot talk nor make any eye contact with anyone, so it is very interesting to watch.

  • Hello,

I've been in Luang Prabang in December, I think it's one of the most nice places I've ever been. I'm from Italy, maybe you were there in the same time I was.

    Bye from italy

    Katia
