Totally don't remember leaving this commentbut you could defintely put more than two mics on a marimba. 2 D112's for each row of resonators on the bottom would be brilliant to pick the amazing warm low tones of the marimba and then a rode NT-4 behind and above the marimba with two neumann U87's about 1m away from the front on the left and right at a 45 degree angle. A couple of MD421's upright at the same height as the keys also so you can mix in a bit of the mallet noise.
This is pretty amazing! Agh...If only I got the chance to record it....I would put so many mics on the Marimba! Haha! I can imagine it to be an awesome instrument to record!

@DrumMasterT You would only need two; if you put the mics too close they will be overloaded.

this piece was so amazing! i was at the concert where pedro played this!!! enjoyed it so much! pity you cant hear psathas's backing track...
