I've just got an IE class 181 and a bachmann decoder. I can't get the body of the loco off to fit it. Do you know how to?

Just curious , how do you find the movement of those Murphy Model locos? I'm asking because I am in the process of buying one. Are they nice and smooth at slow speeds and over the points or are they jerky? That appears to be pretty smooth to me. I'd love to know.

thanks for comments, the tightest curve is a 2 ft radius and its hidden away in the tunnel.
