@whizzmaster3000 actually, it was because before it was made official that her name was pronounced "Hong Meiling", the fans didn't know whether her name was pronounced that way or if it was pronounced "Kurenai Misuzu" (her name is in Kanji so it could go either way), so one person decided that they should just call her China, which caught on and became her nickname.

@Bobownzall1 Her name is Hong Meiling. The only reason people call her China is because she's Chinese and the Japenese have trouble pronouncing the letter L. After that, the name spread and now people call her China internationally.
