Charlie Kunz & His Chez Henri Club Band - I'm Tired Of Waiting For You, Columbia 1928 (UK)

NOTE: Charles KUNZ (b.1896 in Allentown, Pennsylvania d. 1958, UK) was an American pianist and bandleader. He was an olny son of a baker who played the French horn. Charlie made his debut aged six and made his first appearance as a prodigy aged seven. During the Great War he led his own resident band, while working in a munitions factory. He came to England in 1922 as a pianist in a dance band which was led by drummer, Ed Krick. The band came to London to play a residency in the Trocadero. The band returned without Charlie to Pennsylvania after a very successful run at the 'Troc' and until 1998, still got together for sessions for retirement homes, renamed the band 'The B Flats'.. He was a distinctive and popular pianist and after leading the Chez Henri and later Casani Club dance bands, he decided to concentrate on his piano playing both at Music Hall venues and on the BBC. His debut as a soloist came in 1934 at the Holborn Empire. The same year saw the beginning of what was to become a continuous output of solo records of "Charlie Kunz Medleys". His piano style was a relaxed flowing interpretation of popular melodies played with subtle soft and loud accents, a style which he called "melody and rhythm with expression". Charlie Kunz was to remain in UK until his death from a heart attack in 1958. He is buried in Streatham Vale cemetery.

  • Grzegorz, this is a real masterpiece of how to combine different and beautiful images with a marvelous music. Thanks!

  • @Masquerade03 Thanks Alvaro! Oh, you kindly exaggerate calling it a "masterpiece". "Don Quijote" is a masterpiece, "Death of the Count of Orgaz" is a masterpiece... but my clips? Anyway, I am delighted that you liked it and you are welcome to enjoy more! :-)

  • Love that forlorn "tree hugger" with the blue sash ca. 0:33, as well as that poor man with the flowers. Your combinations and re-combinations of images are taking on a narrative quality I find tres charmant.

  • @barbcard My Dear B., Sometimes, I feel these little clips in my heart, like my little poems. Sometimes, they speak with the secret language of poetry...

  • very fine; nothing like a little syncopation while waiting....great video. thank you.

  • @bill3murr You are right, 3 minutes syncopation every day after breakfast, lunch and supper, and - the worlf would be better

  • GOD! I LOVE YOUR CHANNEL!!! and this is a AWESOME EXSAMPLE OF WHY!!! What a WONDERFUL blending of the beautiful song and photos is very well done indeed!

  • So different to the later, sweet Kunz style. This is fantastic!

  • @240252 The things that you mentioned are a different medium. Believe, you are an artist in this one.

  • Beautiful tune, full of life and moviment. Marvelous images, they suggest pages of old Vogues. A simple moment of glamour, history and nostalgia - a moment of elegance! Thanks so much for the pleasure you gave to me. Antonio Augusto from Brazil

  • @240252 Yes, the narrative rolls along like a roman a clef (my 4th attempt!) love, B.
