This can be only done on certain elevators such as this one if you wish to view their door components and interlock. There are some tips on doing this though.

1) Only do this at lift lobbies without CCTVs in the vicinity and with nobody at all. This can only be done as well when there are other lifts beside this one in the elevator bank. Upon 2 cm from closing, gently but firmly bring landing the doors open.

2) DO NOT release the doors and let them slam shut once done. Instead, close the doors by guiding them with your hands swiftly but gently and then making contact quietly.

3) If it is obvious that a particular brand of elevator (esp. Fujitec) which the door trick does not work on, DO NOT try your luck by using extreme force to try and pry the landing doors open once both sets of doors are about 1 cm from closing and then ride the lift after the doors reopen. There will be a 90% chance that this will jam the lift with a deafening alarm.

4) Open the landing doors in increments of 15 cm to check if any alarm will sound upon doing the door trick. If no alarm, continue to do so until reaching full extent (elevator doors with components can be seen completely) and close the doors ASAP once done.

4) Don't bother trying it on Kone, Schindler and Fujitecs. The mechanisms of the door interlock on these lifts is designed in such a way that it will make you huff and puff while futilely attempting the door trick.

5) Only do this if the elevator is free (not going up or down - check for directional arrow if there is a floor indicator) or when there is no one inside.

6) The best location to try an elevator door trick is in a building that is about to be demolished with population less than 10 or 20.

7) If you are afraid that the lift might jam after your door trick, better make sure that there is a staircase as back-up nearby.

8) Do not do this to EXPRESS elevators on the first floor at every building. The lift will emit a short loud siren upon doing so and will startle you enough to release the doors

9) Lastly, DO NOT do the door trick if the elevator you see displays signs of a breakdown earlier on(Door opening/closing shakily and violently, misleveling) or if you are afraid of getting caught or hurt.

Do this at your own risk. I will not be responsible for any ridiculous ideas that will somehow spawn from doing this and if you get caught or hurt, the dos and don'ts are already written here.
