Performance #4 (now modified into "Seven Gigs Within Seven Months") occurred when I understudied for the role of Nigel Sexsmith (usually played by Cody Harrison, a gentleman and... a gentleman ;) ) for one of my ole' dinner theatre stomping grounds, McSweeney Co. Dinner Theatre in Moncton, New Brunswick. I was glad to team up with past castmates Joey Baglole (a dinner theatre legend, both in Moncton and abroad, notorious for his role of Cooder in his first McSweeney performance) and Becky Tucker (who came onto the Moncton scene in January 2009 during my last full-time dinner theatre show, "Desperate Wedding Crashers"). Newbies Tricia Black (a pro at improv), Jessica Frenette (who actually is as sportive as she looks... and energetic, too!), and Joey Paquin (who revealed himself to be a very talented painter as well) rounded out the cast that evening for a smaller than usual crowd... Heck, it was busy in Moncton that night. (Becky, Cody, and Joey Paquin all stayed on for McSweeney's Autumn/Christmas 2009 production, "Who Shot the Boss?", which also sees the return of McSweeney alumni Nicole Maillet.)
Apologies for the sound quality (as I had no direct feed for the digital hard-disk recorder, though arguably I could have hooked up a mic to it, hid both in a corner of the room, and hope for the best). The sole digital camera also shut down (batteries) barely 10 minutes into the first act, thus making it impossible to include snips of Becky and Joey Paquin's character songs (though I just realized I forgot to include Joey Baglole's rousing rendition of "Wild Thing"!). Hopefully, this video will serve as a glimpse into the wacky and fun world of dinner theatre. If you want more.... well, you'll just have to catch a show, won't you? ;)
