I admire the courage of the photographer. He can go far beyond registering an event. It can record images in the raw reality of life. I became a diehard fan of his work.

Perhaps if you weren't skipping through it then you would have heard that he had been photographing the crying woman and her people for a long time, and they completely understood and accepted him, as a means to show the world what was happening there.

A few minutes skipping through this and I've realised I don't want to be that anymore. The rolling insensitivity of the guy, it was horrible.

Has anyone recognised the lens that James Nachtwey uses in this video? For example at 13:04. It is an L lens of course, wide angle, but which one exactly? Cheers

His work?....he is a witness for us all. He is not an artist. His canvas is misery

I hear you but James isn't like that. He started his career by documenting lives of people in places where war and conflict had already happened many years back. So he wasn't at all waiting for disaster to happen. Coz he knew tht the effects of war last for a long time. And it is for this reason he is actually an anti-war photographer. He is aagainst wars. He documents the effects of wars so people are put off by it and would never agree to their govt's plans to to war if it ever were to happen.

in some respects i admire the photographers but i also sometimes think they r scum at times waiting for something to happen so they can take a picture like oppertunist makeing a profirt of the pain in the world, they would just follow the marines around and were just waiting for the oppertunity that u or ur buddies get shot so they can profit off the death, its sick, i mean if ur best friend just got shot in the face in front of u how would u feel if some 1 was getting money off that scene
