this video shows you how to make your apache web server live to the internet with its own DNS EG thesouthcamera.serveftp.net

this will work on basically any kind of server even game servers. but this was originally for web servers so you may have to change a few settings.

You will need to know some tecnical knolage as there are many difrent routers and you may need to look in difrent menus, also some routers have a username and password so you will need to find this out if you are asked for a username and password.

have fun with your live web server

here is a link to DynDNS

  • DynDNS is not free... -.-'

  • @Palmer640 It has free services that you can use to make a subdomain. this video is very old now and it only meant as a guide. dyndns has now stopped a lot of the freebies but you can still get a free subdomain.

  • Look at Add Virtual Hosts To Apache

    OR

Setup Virtual Hosts On 2 Or More Hard Drives Or Partitions

  • is this possible when using a direct connection to the internet? = no router

  • @janerik1990 Yes. If you are on an old dialup connection it depends on your ISP, if you have a broadband USB modem this is also the same, but usually it’s OK go. but the end of this video still the same, unblocking port 80 in the firewall then check to see if your port 80 has connected. You can run an online port scan from t1shopper on your public IP address to confirm. NOTE I assume this is on the computer with the direct connection.

  • @thesouthcamera Ah, yeah... I noticed the subdomain.

No one does actual free domains anymore without having some kind of catch to it.
