MOTOR START SWITCH relay located next to motor. Try changing that.
Mine did exactly the same thing so I stuck a plastic knife in between motor shaft and relay button and dryer started and button stayed in after I removed knife, so I suspect it is that relay starting switch may be faulty. also check the thermal fuse going to relay. Mine relay is we4x344. I may buy one or just get a new dryer, this one is old and I don't need anymore headaches.

@dada2449 i did that too and while the drum starts turning the fan doesn't seem to blow the hot air out- smells like somethings burning cause the heater still goes on...i think it could be potentially dangerous.

I replaced the motor and still have the same symptoms - buzzing. I was told there is no capacitor on these dryers.

try new motor capacitor they start the motor and when they go wrong it just makes buzzing sound, its the little can like object in wiring before the motor ,easy fix for about £5

At 0:23 what is that called?

@dada2449 no thats a temporary fix and it ruins the motor! if you ceap doin that youll have to get a expensive fix

bad motor very common problem with g.e dryers

Mine does this, too, but sometimes it starts right up. Then it will only run for 10 to 30 minutes and die. If I try to restart, it makes this same noise. Sometimes it will start on its own, sometimes it will start if I rotate the drum by hand a little bit, and sometimes nothing will get it to start, and it won't run until a couple days later.
I took it apart, vacuumed it out, but it's not better. I'm guessing the motor is bad?

@TerribleTonyBones His motor is seizing up. Replace with new one. Also, note the heat element coil of the pan on the back wall. See how they sag badly. The unit is over heating due to vent restriction. You can keep changing parts, but you better off fixing the main problem, whick is poor venting. It also takes longer to dry- thus higher electric bill!
did u ever figure out the problem?

Yes fortunately i did get it fixed - i basically vacuumed it since there were a lot of lint and dust in there and then i put everything back together and it worked. I've read a lot of posts that the build up of lints and dusk can actually prevent some switches inside to work properly.
Hope this helps!
