I put this together for High School Journalism Day. A colleague took it to the ACES convention. I've had several requests to post it, so here it is.

  • Newspapers don't archive and preserve anything - you can't practically archive newspapers, and you can't search or link to them. "I have the frame grab from thad day"? No, here's the link. It's online were we can build archives, tag and link data to preserve it until eternity.

  • A fine point, but misses my message. I go all over Dallas, and many times see hisoric pages framed on the wall...I don't see web sites or links...the idea is that with a newspaper, you can hold history in your hands and connect with it in a way you can't do with video or online. It's infitely more personal.
