In this excerpt from the Family of Choice webcast (01/14/2009), author and children's attorney Andrew Vachss answers a reader's question, "How do you deal with people who approach you with a screenplay, TV series, or film ideas with your approved narration and very careful guidance? You might actually reach a wider audience." [Q76]

  • And the real justice is that, whatever happens, we'll always have the books.

  • I used to be one of those people who thought that if I could just my screenplay into the hands of 'INSERT NAME HERE', that it would be the perfect thing for them and blah blah blah... Not anymore.

I've read books on Hollywood and the whole business of screenwriting and the proper channels that need to be taken, etc. I get it. I may not like it, but I get it. It makes sense to me why unsolicited scripts would get either sent back or tossed in the G file.

I wished others would get it too.

  • I guess what I really want to know is, will you read my screenplay, Andrew?

  • Nobody will EVER make a Burke movie that does justice to his books.

    Simple as that.
