The Flying Eye Hospital program in Peru offered an exclusive resident training component offering hands-on clinical and surgical skills exchange to the 2nd and 3rd year residents of the IRO (our partner institution). Clinics in glaucoma, medical retina and cataract were offered.
Dr. James Lehmann, of Focal Point Vision in San Antonio, Texas, and former Flying Eye Hospital staff ophthalmologists, led the cataract skills exchange program. Together with the IRO residents, they operated on patients suffering from avoidable blindness due to cataract - the leading cause of avoidable blindness worldwide.

Beautiful video. When she kisses the doctor's hand, I cried! Just beautiful!
