Carp may not be the first fish you put on the dinner table, but not because of a lack of flavor. This rough fish, while it is labor-intensive to clean, is quite delicious to eat. Host Tim Farmer heads to the Barkley and Kentucky Lake tailwaters to bow fish for bighead carp, and then to his kitchen to test recipes.

  • If a guy were to grind up the meat in a grinder, would that make it so the y-bones would disenergrate when you fry them?

  • @NatureManGuy I know, he's making poor innocent plants starve. Maybe a raccoon here and there.

  • @Reid3287 Well the only way your going to be able to fight one on rod and reel is by snagging. Take a 10ft rod, spool it with some 80lb line and get a nice heavy set of treble hooks. Cast out as far as you can and reel in with really strong popping motions.

  • I don't bowfish but would love to try to tackle one of those behemoths on a rod and reel. What bait do you think they will hit and how would one go at fishing for them. Bobber, slip bobber, etc. They are in the carp family just adapted to feeding on plankton instead of things on the lake or pond bottom. Enjoy the new species that we must deal with anyway.

  • We love the crappie, walleye, bass, etc because they don't offend us to look at but there are invasive species that are delicious. I have heard from family in Washington D.C that the snakehead is great. I have eaten round gobies ( I know most people won't admit to that one lol) and they tasted as sweet as Great lakes yellow perch. NO LIE. We should study them and find out how we can fish for and the best time to catch all of them. Remember the brown trout is not indigenous to the Great Lakes

  • thats so damn wasteful

  • @jtschid0910 They are really tasty kind of like salmon nice fatty meat accept different color just fillet it out like any other fish and cut out the why-bone deep fry it it also makes an awesome fish chowder and my favorite way is mix cornmeal, graham crumbs, cornflake crumbs, little paprika, salt, pepper, garlic powder, drench the fillets in it and fry it in hot oil.If u try it pls tell me how was it thanx see u

  • Bighead carp and Grass carp are not in the carp family the're almost strictly herbivores that's why their meat is so lean.Common ,mirror, koi and wild carps are omnivores and their meat are fatty grey-ish colored and much more tasty kind of like salmon.Carp is the world's most popular freshwater fish for eating it's really great

  • @pdrow1 Most of the world eats carp. I guess we are the weird ones but I dont wanna touch it... haha.

  • Could you post a video of yourself cleaning and eating a common carp? I have always wanted to see if these fish taste any good.
