@goodxdayxsunshine I would love to see JFK and Stalin as strippers, hey wait a minute who gives a fuck about an oxford comma?
-
Are you fucking kidding me? Comma in your ass people.
-
@goodxdayxsunshine In that instance, a colon would be more indicative that JFK and Stalin were the strippers. The lack of an Oxford comma in that sentence is still fine.
Not too many bands have songs that spawn grammatical debates on their YouTube pages. I guess that's another reason I love Vampire Weekend.

You're missing the point mate. It's the comma after JFK that goodxdayxsunshine is referring to. Read both sentences again, but pause at each comma and you'll see what he means.
-
I love how none of their music videos have anything to do with the song.
-
@goodxdayxsunshine theres a comma in both sentences...
-
@cloudykate If English is your first language then the wording of sentences should be second nature.
-
@KCKwarsick so then why reword it instead of just making it a general rule to use the oxford comma? It never hurts you to use it and you won't have to check your sentences to make sure you don't have to reword it.
-
@kylearora Trust me, Reddit didn't make that joke. It's age-old, and Reddit sucks too much to be able to make up anything original.
-
@goodxdayxsunshine Or just reword it as "We invited JFK, Stalin and the strippers."
The Oxford is almost NEVER necessary.
With Oxford comma: We invited the strippers, JFK, and Stalin.
Without Oxford comma: We invited the strippers, JFK and Stalin.
Thus implying that JFK and Stalin were the strippers.
Always use the Oxford comma.
Always.

@DuchessRococoPuff that's not really an Oxford comma. It's more like: "I ate bananas, oranges, and apples." versus "I ate bananas, oranges and apples." It's that last comma that some people use and others don't.
