Right handed guitar turned upside down, it's a Flying V, and finger picking....and he sounds more amazing than anybody else. Albert Kings, rest his soul, is Amazing. SRV, rest his soul, is just as excellent in the respect of Texas Blues.

@sejtur Mayer has some definite moments when he shows influence from SRV, but he's really his own animal. I hear a little smoothed out Buddy Guy in him on Where The Light Is (Continuum is surprisingly a good album). SRV has a lot of funk and grit in his play and Mayer has less, but that may just be Texas versus Connecticut for blues culture.

@TheOhyeahproductions RIP SRV! He died when I was 2, so also for me no conscious watching an amazing guitar playing, one of the best ever. Today, I think JM comes closest to him. Not the Pop JM but the John mayer trio. Check it out on the where the light is dvd, it's on youtube too ;) Its not weird that he is closest, SRV was his biggest influence.

I don't know any guitarists today with the chops AND fashion sense to claim heirship to SRV. He died two years before I was born, so this is how I'm learning about this fantastic music. God bless Youtube!

@JimiJunkie absolutley. This is just so enjoyable to watch 2 real blues devotees with a genuine rapport and love for each other instead of competitiveness or phoniness. Beautiful.

Great ! I think this is when Stevie was still using fender amps. Always liked that sound best. Two great players and I saw Stevie 2 times once with Jeff Beck who is another favorite other time with Santana of course who is also a genius. Started getting into Albert King when I heard the solo in strange brew by cream was from one of his songs.

@loombaron Stevie was beyond...that's so f..... right...i don't even know how its possible to discuss about it...stevie...and i love eric clapton,he's a great player...but there is no questions about it...stevie is beyond....and so far...so so so far beyond...
