can i use this program to copy everything in my hard disk for back up and then i format the hard dick and after the format i use the copied part the back up and use it again so i will have everything back but on the other hand i will have a format hard disk and after i but everything back on the hard disk . thank you

Question: after copying the boot partition to another disk (in my case an external disk) & making it active will that allow me to boot independently from this newly created disk partition?
I need to copy the Boot partition from my laptop onto a partition on my external HDD then move that EXT. to my desktop machine (HDD crashed) & boot the DT with this (foreign if you will) partition. Will it clone the OS also? Will the BIOS recognize the new HDD partition? What problems might I encounter?
