So much there that could be salvaged and put to good use. What a waste.

hmmm I might go up there and steal some of those light fixtures. I've seen ones like them go for hundreds. Disgusting how the 'haves' can sit on their shit holding it from the 'have not's'. Land and property should go to those that need it.

You could fly to the tropics for next to nothing. Before a/c, the Catskills were a blessing, but once Miami did too, who needed 55 degree Catskill mornings, freezing swimming pools, thunderstorms, rattlesnakes and copperheads? Above all, the Baby Boomer generation of Jews was assimilated, fully American, and felt no psychological necessity to rub shoulders with kinsmen and eat old country delicacies all summer.

Mmm... 25-year-old abandoned food. Hey, that old Grossinger's soap would probably be worth something. lol

@ThePhantomRailroads Really? I'd never heard of that. Interesting. Not surprising, but interesting.

Why do you think they closed it? Did you watch the video? That place is a dump!
Why did all these big resorts upstate go under... Grossingers, the Concord, the Nevele, etc. etc.?
Any theories?

I would imagine people started to fly more and traveling farhter away (from say, NYC) because more easily accessible... so they went out to the catskills less and less....
