Christmas offering

This new born monitor lizard is being thoroughly despatched of. Yellow-billed Hornbills are typically insect and fruit eaters but will eat small mammals and reptiles. They have the right bill to despatch bigger prey but aren't equipped to tear it apart and have to swallow it whole. The hornbill is making doubly sure the baby monitor lizard is dead, repeatedly thrashing it to make it as supple as possible for its mate to swallow, holed up in the tree.
