"Why Target China?
While China continues to be Sudan's largest economic and diplomatic ally, the genocide in Darfur continues in Darfur. China has done very little to help end the suffering. China will host the 2008 Olympic Games in August 2008. In doing so, the Chinese government hopes to bask in the glow of the Olympic ideals of global peace and cooperation.
But China's efforts to polish its international image can't hide the fact that it has not done enough to stop genocide in Darfur. The games China is playing in Beijing cannot hide the games that China is playing in Darfur.
China is a rising global power and Sudan's close economic, military, and diplomatic partner. It is the one government in the world -- except Sudan itself -- that can bring an end to genocide in Darfur."

Rhode Island Dream for Darfur Torch Relay
"Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere," (Martin Luther King Jr.)
On October 27, 2007, The Rhode Island Dream for Darfur Torch Relay and Ceremony took place in Providence. Ordinary people came together to stand united with others around the world with the unified message to bring the Beijing Olympics theme of "One World, One Dream" to Darfur. With our presence we said "'Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.'* We were there to say we will not be silent about Darfur." *Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Keynote speakers were twin nineteen year old Rwandans, Edward and Edwin Mutanguha, freshmen at Salve Regina University in Newport.
Edwin said, "Today, we are all uniting for a common cause, all from different backgrounds, but with one thing in mind, to be responsible for each other and be conscious of what is going on around us. Our world is becoming a global village and it is no longer possible for us to live obliviously and inconsiderately."
Edward spoke from his heart "I would like to remind everybody about something that you have that the rest of the world envies: your FREEDOM. With this freedom, comes rights. I urge you to use your rights as citizens of a free nation to help the people of Darfur obtain their freedom and their right to live."
Music was provided by the Rhode Island Darfur Ensemble.

Text by Sandra Hammel, organizer, of this Darfur event.
5 Chinese civilians are killed Munich style by Darfur rebellions. The EU and US have long supported these Christian rebellions; to the degree of supply money and weapon. Western media depicts these barbaric Christians as victims. Some even criticize China for not supporting Darfur independence! The Western publics are shielded from any truth and fact. Western reporters describe news through Christian-racist color-glasses. Christians must stop bash Chinese and Jews.

Guns for oil from China may not be right, but it is business the way how every other super power do it: at the expense of the less fortunate. You should study history before jumping on the "hate-china" bandwagon. Everywhere in modern history Europeans have been in, the aftermaths are horrific. Britain alone is responsible for many hot spots: Iran, Iraq, Burma, India (getting way better!), Negeria, Sudan, Congo, Libya, Israel (yes the creation of it created tensions and leverage)

The rest is histroy as a dumb ass can find it on the internet. Britain after WWI knew of the importance of oil in wars and decided to take over Sudan as a colony and they did. But they established a two faction system to counter-act each other and stabliize oil production with Muslims to the North and the Christians to the South . Hmmm...I believe it is the same two factions which has been fighting since the British left in 1956 (Sudan's Independence), wow it is. So again, this is business.

So when you want to blame on something, do it right historically. Lets debate on the fact that Sudan was a proud race of people who in recent history was taken over by Egyptian forces under Muhammad Ali Pasha in 1820. However, your great European superpwoers disrupted the flow when they replaced the ruler's son Ismail with Tewfik causing revolts from the Muslims. Ah, yes, the British were already behind the scenes supporting the Egyptians. Now in 1899, Sudan was under the Anglo-Egyptian rule.

To all, resources drives this world, the Chinese have been on the bad receiving end many times. No one wants to hear about the distant past, but let me take you to a time when China lost Hong Kong, macau with the the help of the U.S. blockade for importing opium into China that killed an estimated 6.2 milion (Library of Congress 235.002-Chinese modern history) Chinese in the Canton province alone. Do not want to hear that? Ok, how about the Japanese killing 350,000 in Nanking?

I am not saying what China is doing is right, but shouldn't we pressure the Sudanese government since it is the government that does the killing, not the Chinese government. If China does not sell them weapons, other countries will. You cannot stop the genocide by simply protesting against China, you need to pressure the Sudanese government to STOP THE KILLING. If the government wants to kill its people, then its going to do so with the arms from China or not.
