So, the house we recently moved into is the only house I have ever owned (I've had condos, and I still have one of those money pits, but that's another story). It's only the second place I've ever lived where I had a dining room. So I was really excited to create a grand, almost theatrical space. We eat in the kitchen or on the back porch most of the time, but I envisioned the dining room to be a place for special occasions, for adults to gather while the kids are out back.

Note the wallpaper: it's from England, it was pricey, it took months to arrive. The china hutch is Heywood Wakefield, which I have collected for years (I found this piece for a good price on craigslist); inside it is my wedding china. My wedding china! Don't I get a room that is befitting my wedding china? Doesn't a woman who waited to get married get to have the dining room of her dreams?

Apparently not.

  • sunlw1 can u shut the fuck up

  • can i cum in your mouth?

  • get a job & a divorce and you can do what ever the f*** you want OK"

  • I think the woman should decorate the huose but still get some input from the husband, especially in rooms that he will use a lot like the bedroom and he should get the garage as his "man room."

  • dead on JERRYBOLAK!!

heh.. what value does a man have beside being a sperm donation machine, right Daphne?

  • Plain and simple he is wrong, you are right. You get to do your dining room the way you want and he gets to do his "man cave" the way he wants, pure and simple. Eat your heart out Dr. Phil and Dr. Laura! My wife has better taste than I (as far as decorating goes) and i really dont look at the decor when i am eating anyway.

  • I think they should both discuss the pros and cons of each choice and come to a compromise. If you are not open to the ideas of the other and just want to get your way, then this is just a power struggle and not conducive to a healthy relationship.

I suggest that she give him a "hhmmm" and in the middle ask him again to go with the padded chairs, see what happens. My wife always seems to get her way this way. It's very persuasive.

Let us know if it worked, Coolmom.

  • you can do much better,Atleast I think so,guys or the husband don't uaually make those kinds of decisions I Would know Im a tile setter, and a plumber now, women always make the ultimate choice, unless there very young, then they make a decision together. most men will do whatever to keep you quiet for awhile right?
